The Seaside Heights Car Show is an annual event held in the Jersey Shore town of Seaside Heights, located about half way down the state's shore line. This year, the weather was perfect for the event and they have a big turnout. There was over 320 classic autos there - something for everyone. Although American classic and American muscle cars made up the vast majority, there were some very nice European examples there including a 1957 Porsche Speedster in yellow and a concours-condition Austin Healey 3000 MkIII in the original Healey blue - probably the coolest paint color I've seen on a car, ever.
You will notice that most of the
pictures are close-in detail shots. At shows like these, it is very difficult
to get decent shots of cars whole for three reasons: 1. The cars are parked
close together, which means framing of any one car is very limited. 2. There
are lots of people walking around and although they are thoughtful about not
getting in your shot, it is unavoidable. 3. The cars are all being judged
and therefore have their hoods and trunks open, which doesn’t make for
good pictures. Some of the people there were very thoughtful and offered to
close their hoods and trunks for me when they saw I was interested in shooting
their cars. Aside from these three excuses, I just like taking detail pictures.
There are many nice looking badges, logos, hood ornaments and body shapes
that often go unnoticed in the big picture. I enjoy finding and bringing attention
to these details.
