This was my first time at the Fairfield County Concours d'Elegance. The setting for the event is Veterans Green in Westport, CT. Westport is a very nice town near Connecticut's shore, about 20 miles from the NY border via the Merritt Parkway. It is evident while driving through the town that this is one of the richest parts of the country. Westport's downtown area is beautifully kept and Main Street is lined with high-end shopping.
The cars at this show also reflect wealth. There were some amazing european sports and racing cars from 50's and 60's, including Ferraris, Alfas, Bugattis, and several early Jaguar XK's. All of the cars were incredible, but the highlights for me include a brand new Porsche GT (they left the window sticker on it - $425k), a 1955 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta, David Letterman's 1965 Ferrari Superfast - a rare, powerful Ferrari in silver with red leather, and a Duesenberg Straight 8 which was truely impressive; there were people simply staring at the engine bay for 10 minutes at time.
The amount of variety at this concours was huge. A few rows down from the award winning Duesenberg were some new, highly modified Audis and a Lamborgini Gallardo. Aside from the cars, there were some nicely detailed motorcycles - a few BMW's, BSA's, Triumphs, a very nice Indian, an old Harley trike, and a 1960's Ducati.
